Stop Work Order

A stop work order is an official notice issued by a governing authority, typically a municipal building department or regulatory agency, to halt all construction activities at a specific site. These orders are issued when the construction work being performed is found to be in violation of building codes, zoning regulations, safety standards, or other applicable laws.

Our Services:

Review the Stop Work Order: Carefully review the stop work order to understand the specific violations or issues cited by the building department or regulatory agency.

Address Violations: Identify and address the stop work order. This may involve obtaining the necessary permits, making corrections or repairs to bring the construction into compliance with building codes and regulations.

Submit Corrective Action Plan: If required, the client will need to hire an architect and/or engineer to prepare and submit a corrective action plan to the department of buildings

Obtain Permits: If the stop work order was issued due to a lack of proper permits, ensure that all necessary permits are obtained from the department of buildings before resuming construction activities.

Schedule Inspections: Coordinate with the building department to schedule inspections of the site to verify that the violations have been corrected and that the construction work is in compliance with applicable regulations. Be prepared to address any additional concerns raised during the inspections.

Obtain Clearance: Once the building department confirms that the violations have been addressed and the construction work is in compliance with regulations, you will receive clearance to resume work. Ensure that you have official documentation confirming the lifting of the stop work order before proceeding with construction activities.

Address Penalties: We will arrange for payment of any fines or penalties associated with the violations on behalf of the property owner or occupant.
